What To Expect

We have 2 large parking lots located on the east and west sides of our church buildings. There is a smaller lot in the center of the church property between our sanctuary and family life center. Handicap parking is available in all three lots.

If you are coming for worship the best place to enter the sanctuary is through the front doors adjacent to Saluda Dam Road or via the handicap ramp on the west side of the sanctuary. If you are coming for Sunday School, most adult classes are located in our sanctuary building. You can enter through the front doors or via the handicap ramp on the west side of the sanctuary. We also have a young married couple’s class meeting in the conference room above our Family Life Center. This class is accessed easily by entering the church office entrance in our Family Life Center building. The 6th-12th grade class meets in our fellowship hall just off the gymnasium. It can be accessed by entering the church office entrance and taking the stairs down to the lower level, or via the main Family Life Center entrance on the east side of the church property. Most children’s classes are located on the lower floor of our sanctuary building and may be accessed by stairways on both the east and west sides of the sanctuary building. The lower level of the sanctuary building may also be reached via an entrance off the center parking lot on the east side of the sanctuary. The church Nursery and the 4th and 5th grade class are in our Child Development Center Building which may be accessed via the hallway on the lower level of the sanctuary building or through the double glass doors just off the center parking lot.

Our Sunday morning service is a blend of classic hymns and more modern worship songs. We recognize that not everyone’s musical preference is the same, but we find great joy in occasionally setting aside our own preferences for the sake of encouraging and edifying the different members of the spiritual family that God has joined together here at Georges Creek. We also recognize that the most important issue in music is not what style a song is, but whether or not that song is biblically accurate and whether or not it exalts our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus said that if He was lifted up, He would draw all men to Himself. That is what we hope to accomplish through our worship at Georges Creek. We want to exalt Jesus Christ and encourage one another to grow in His grace as we contemplate the goodness and greatness of the God who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.

The centerpiece for our worship together is a sermon by our pastor taken directly from God’s Word. We believe that God’s Word should be central to the worship of the church because it is our supreme rule for what we believe and how we will interact with one another and with the world as the Lord’s Church. Shortly before the pastor’s sermon, there will be a brief children’s lesson led by one of our children’s workers, after which ages 3 through 1st grade are dismissed for children’s worship. The safety and security of those who attend our services is of paramount concern to us, so all of our youth and children’s worker volunteers have gone through background screening. However, you are welcome to keep your children with you if that is what you desire. Nursery for birth through age 2 is provided during each Sunday morning and evening service, but there is also a “Cry Room” just off the sanctuary lobby for mothers who choose to keep their infants with them during the service.

Sunday nights at 6:00pm we meet for small groups.

Wednesday Evening at 6:30 we have a Bible Study and prayer service in our sanctuary, W.O.W. (Women of the Word—a Bible Study for ladies of all ages), and AWANA for our children aged 3-5th grade. We also have a youth service for 6th -12th grade.

Communion is held on the last Sunday morning of each quarter and on special occasions as announced. Baptism is held as needed.

Dress at Georges Creek is varied. Many of our adults still wear their Sunday best. But it is not uncommon to see everything from dresses and suits and ties, to business casual and jeans and t-shirts. It is our prayer that no one will stay away because of concerns about dress. We want our services to be about what exalts the Lord, promotes growth in His grace, and fosters love between brothers and sisters in Christ.
